Water Missions International has been incredibly blessed by the outpouring of love from Christians across the country who desire to make an impact in the lives of the people of Haiti. There are so many wonderful stories and testimonies about the ways people have given of themselves – be it their time, treasure, or talents to show God’s love.
The most remarkable testimonies come from children. Who, having heard about the earthquake and suffering families, have exhibited a humble, pure faith and decided to do something about it. Jesus told his disciples “Truly, I say to you, unless you turn and become like children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven. Whoever humbles himself like this child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven.” (Matthew 18:2-4)
On many occasions the door to the Water Missions office has been opened by the expectant faces of young children. They walk in huddled together with their mothers close by and reach out a hand holding an envelope. “This is for the children in Haiti,” one girl says as the money she raised by selling cookies and lemonade from a roadside stand in her neighborhood is passed to our grateful receptionist. The expressions on the faces of these children are full of hope as they look around and humbly give up their offering.
In John 6 is the story of Jesus feeding the 5,000. Jesus fed the crowd gathered that day using the offering of a child, who through faith alone was willing to give what he had. The boy only had a few loaves of bread and several fish, but God used them to perform a miracle.
Here at Water Missions International we are on the receiving side of many generous gifts, given in response to a call God has placed on the hearts of his people. It is our prayer that God would multiply these gifts beyond our imaginations, once again revealing his character as a loving, all powerful creator – capable of miracles.
We are committed to providing clean, safe water in Jesus name to those affected by the disaster in Haiti. May God continue to work in his Church as we provide countless people with life’s most basic need in order to restore hope and ebb the surge of disease in the aftermath of the earthquake.
