Water Missions International is pleased to offer the opportunity to purchase a Water for Life print by Charleston artist Kevin LePrince.
The
Water for Life giclee image illustrates a 13-year old girl
named Jackline, who lives in the indigent community of Namataba,
Uganda, carrying a jug of water on her head. Because Jackline's
village has no plumbing, she walks 2 miles to fetch her
family's daily supply of water. Each day she carries on
her head 5 gallons of water weighing 40 lbs. Tragically,
the water she works so hard to obtain is contaminated. The
source is shared with animals and utilized by people for
bathing, toileting, and laundering.
Everyday 300 million Americans enjoy clean water in the luxury of their homes, offices, and public facilities. Jackline is one of the 1.1 billion people in the world who do not have access to clean water. A catastrophic Global Water Crisis daily steals the lives of 25,000 people. Water-related diseases are one of the leading causes of death in the world, claiming the life of a child every 15 seconds.
The good news is that a solution exists. Unlike other epidemics such as AIDS, which has no cure, the solution for the Global Water Crisis is as simple as clean water, sanitation, and basic hygiene. WMI believes no person should perish from lack of clean, safe drinking water. We are an organization called to impact the world by supplying ongoing access to clean water for those who have none. We desire to see people like Jackline thrive in society using their gifts and talents to be productive.
