Host a Water Sunday at Your Church!
What is Water Sunday?
Water Sunday is one Sunday that your church dedicates to educating your congregation about the global water crisis. It is the start of a conversation that ties your community to communities around the world that lack access to safe drinking water. It’s a step your church can take towards awareness and responding to God’s call to reach out to the “least of these.”
Why host a Water Sunday?
Approximately 884 million people around the world lack access to safe water. Waterborne illnesses result in the deaths of nearly 1.5 million children every year. This is the equivalent of 20 jumbo jets crashing every single day. By partnering with Water Missions International, your church can be part of the solution. Water Missions International is a Christian engineering relief and development nonprofit organization passionately following Christ’s call to love your neighbor as yourself. We want to see lives changed through the transformative power of safe water and the gospel of hope through Jesus Christ.
As your congregation becomes aware of the problem, a shift will start to happen in their hearts. Their participation literally means children and adults having a chance at life, finding faith in Jesus, and joining us in heaven. That’s a reason to celebrate!
What can I do?
Date - Our 2011-2012 Water Sunday Program launched in August 2011. Please choose a date for your Water Sunday event that works best for you and your church between now and August 2012.
Materials - We want this experience to be as easy and hassle-free as possible, so that you can enjoy the transformational impact of this event. We have plenty of materials available to best equip you for your Water Sunday! Your event can be as simple as a brief 5-10 minute presentation with a Water Missions International informational booth set up in the lobby, or a more in-depth experience that impacts your entire congregation.
Follow Up - Following your request for materials, a Water Sunday consultant will get in contact with you to walk you through the process and answer any questions you may have.
