Eight Water Systems Up and Running!

The Water Mission's team continues to make steady progress in installing Living Water (TM) Treatment Systems in the earthquake zone. Systems have been installed at two hospitals. Samaritans Purse installed a system at the Baptist Haiti Missions Hospital and WMI staff assisted Operation Blessing in an installation an system at the General Hospital in Port Au Prince. These two systems are providing critical water to patients and staff.

Pat Haughney, Director of International Progams assisted in the installation at the General Hospital and reports that "there were patients everywhere I looked...Some were lying within 15' of our installation".

In addition Living Water Treatment Systems have been set up in the following locations:

  • 3 at the Adventist University
  • 1 at the soccer field near the General hospital
  • 1 at the Blue Ridge Feeding Center in Leogane
  • 1 at the Evangelical Theological Seminary in Port Au Prince.

Water Missions International estimates that these systems are now serving as many as 30,000 people each day.

An assessment has been conducted at the Grace Haiti Children's Hospital. Two systems will be needed at that location.

Outside of Port Au Prince, Water Missions International will be installing a system on the border town of Jimini in the Dominican Republic to help provide water needs for those going into Haiti.

Please, continue to pray for the people of Haiti in this desperate time of need.

Pray that equipment will continue to get into the country as soon as possible. Logistics are always an issue.

Pray for our staff on the ground. Reinforcements arrived Saturday and today. We are happy that they have made it safely into the country and are ready to expedite the gift of safe water to as many people as possible.

God Bless You, and the whole world thanks you, for the amazing work you are doing in Haiti. We all know from the typhoon and other disasters, that in the weeks after the dust has settled and the rescuers are home, water-borne disease is the next wave of tragedy to follow. Thank you for preventing this for tens of thousands of precious people.

We are sending teams from MUSC's orthopedics department, and Seacoast Church, and will be reporting on clean water needs in and around Les Cayes for you.
