The task is immense and difficult. The need is urgent. With an estimated 884 million lacking access to safe water and more than 2.5 billion people lacking adequate sanitation, there is a need for immediate action. The crisis is very real as these problems claim the lives of thousands upon thousands every day. We know those statistics - our engineers have been there and have seen the need first-hand. For them, this is personal. They work tirelessly to end this unnecessary suffering.
Their task is not an easy one. WMI is committed to designing solutions that are low cost, rugged and easily operated and maintained. These solutions will be applied in some of the most remote places on the earth and maintained by some of the most marginalized people. The solutions we design and the projects we implement must be sustainable.
Our goal is simple. We want the people we serve to have access to water that is safe to drink, not just an improved source of water that still may be disease-laden. It should be water that you and I would drink. An improved water source that looks clear still may not be safe to drink. Our solutions are geared toward both supplying safe water and protecting and storing safe water until it is used.
Our team of engineers and field technicians are committed to doing the right thing in the right way. We understand the available technologies and choose the most appropriate ones for the time, the place and the people. We also recognize that there is always room for improvement, and we continually work to provide more efficient, cost-effective solutions.
Our goal continues to be finding solutions to improve the health and well-being of the people we serve and thereby offer them a sense of hope and dignity.
