Greetings from Jos - The Report Of A Successful Commissioning Ceremony!

Greetings from Jos. I am sorry that I am just sending a report about the commissioning last Thursday. The team visiting us from Wilmington, NC left on Friday morning. The commissioning was their last activity here with us. I had to drive them to Abuja to put them on their flight to NY. They have arrived safely and were very impressed with what Water Missions International is doing.

The celebration started at 8:00AM with a novelty soccer game in the village. Then at 10:30 am, our students went from door to door in the village sharing the gospel with individuals and inviting them to the village square for the celebration. The program proper started at noon. The state TV press men were there and gave full coverage of the event. It was aired on the Friday evening news, which I missed because I was in Abuja with the team departing for US. But I have received calls for a system in many communities since then.

As part of the program, we had a H&H talk, welcome speech by the community leader, traditional dances, special songs by the youth of the church and the Women Fellowship of the churches came together and gave a special song. This was followed by a Gospel Message and an altar call. In all, 30 people gave their lives to Christ and received eternal life (11 during the door-to-door, and 19 after the gospel message). We bless the Lord for the power of His love.

Following these, was the tape cutting ceremony and dispensing water to the people. We concluded everything at about 2:30 PM and headed back to Jos. One of our alumni who comes from the village is working with the pastors of the churches in the village to disciple the new believers.

It was a very successful day.  Thank you indeed for your prayers. We are doing community assessments for a couple of communities for the installation of the last system.

Thank you and God bless WMI.
