After a disaster, safe water is one of the most
important factors in aiding the survivors and preventing
disease. WMI has recognized this need and developed
a solution: the Rapid Response Water Treatment System
(RRWTS).
The RRWTS is a self-contained, mobile water purification
unit designed to remove suspended and dissolved
contaminants from any water source. The RRWTS was
developed in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina
when WMI recognized the need foran emergency water
treatment system that could be deployed and set
up quickly in the U.S. or around the world after
a disaster.
Completely self-contained in a quadcon, which is
a rugged military-grade container, the RRWTS is
easily transportable by pick-up truck into disaster
areas. Within just a few hours, the system can be
producing clean, safe water from any source at a
rate of ten gallons per minute or 10,000 gallons
per day – enough for 3,000 people per day in an
emergency situation.
