Volunteer Handbook
Each Living Water Treatment System (LWTS) is assembled,
tested, and packed for shipping entirely by volunteers
at WMI. Volunteers are the life blood of this organization.
Without their participation, WMI would struggle to
maintain its non-profit ministry because of the cost
of labor associated with the production of the LWTS.
It is our volunteer labor force that allows us to
donate the LWTS units to those in need of clean drinking
water. There are a variety of tasks with a wide range
of skill set requirements that go into the production
of the unit. In fact, we have something for just about
everybody! Training is done on-site, so anyone with
the desire to get involved is welcome regardless of
their educational background or work experience. We
have a large assortment of tasks that need to be done
everyday, so there is always something new and exciting
to do. Volunteers can expect to be involved at all
levels of production from making filters to testing
systems.
Whether you help in the production center, the office,
or in the field, as a Water Missions International
volunteer, your work is vital. You can take a hands-on
role in bringing safe water and the “Living Water”
message to people in need. Please scroll down to read

Production Facility
Production Facility volunteers help assemble Living
Water™ Treatment Systems (LWTS™), which are installed
in developing countries and disaster areas. Nearly
anyone can be trained to work in the Production Facility.
It helps if you're handy, but it's most important
to be willing to work hard and not be afraid to get
a little dirty!

tasks.
Field
Field volunteers travel to developing countries and
disaster areas in order to implement WMI’s safe water
projects. Field volunteers are generally experienced
Production Facility volunteers who have excellent
technical skills and are capable of traveling internationally,
either alone or with another WMI volunteer or staff
member. The amount of experience necessary to become
a Field Volunteer is determined on a case-by-case
basis.
Office
Office volunteers assist with a variety of clerical and administrative tasks. Examples include data entry, answering phones, laminating, folding brochures, assembling information packets, copying, and filing.
Language Translation
If you are fluent in a foreign language, particularly Spanish or French, WMI can use your help to translate documents, literature, and manuals for our partners in Latin America, the Caribbean, and Africa.
Computer, Internet, Web Technical Assistance
As technology advances and as we rely more and more
on email, internet and web-based communications, we
often have a need for advice and technical assistance
in this area.
