In response to the ongoing crisis in Haiti, another water treatment system was successfully installed today at a Haitian seminary. Water Missions International continues to seek out the areas most in need within and surrounding the capital of Port-au-Prince. Nearly two weeks after the initial quake struck on Tuesday, January 12, Haiti is still being rocked by intense aftershocks, causing increased fear among those still in the area.
WMI has installed nine systems in Haiti to date. Three more systems are currently in Haiti and are being shipped to areas most in need. Ten units were scheduled to arrive in Haiti today, but the shipment has unfortunately been delayed. We pray that the 20 units we have en route will be up and running in Haiti as soon as possible.
The need for clean water in Haiti is undeniable. At this moment, WMI has requests from other disaster-relief organizations to ship more than 90 systems to this devastated country. The need is great, and our volunteers are working endlessly to ensure that we get clean water to these people who need it the most. Again, we thank you for your prayers and support as we continue to do everything we can to help.
