On Thursday, 10 more water systems arrived in Port-au-Prince. Once again, FedEx offered its services at no cost to get the systems delivered to people in Haiti who are still suffering in the aftermath of the January 12 earthquake. Yesterday’s arrival brings the total number of water systems in Haiti to 41. Twelve of those systems have already been installed and are providing life-saving water to as many as 60,000 refugees.
Thankfully, channels have recently opened for Water Missions International to ship water systems and supplies by way of ocean-going vessels. This is an answer to prayer and will greatly enhance our organization’s capacity to continue steadily with relief efforts. Additionally, Water Missions International has acquired two large trucks, which will be shipped to Haiti and will allow our team to easily move water systems to the areas where the need is the greatest!
On the ground, Water Missions International technicians continue to assess areas of Port-au-Prince that have not been reached by aid workers. Earthquake victims in these areas are in desperate need of safe water as disease and dehydration are threatening their lives.
