Team Arrives in Haiti

Water Missions International has confirmed that its Charleston, SC-based relief team has arrived safely in Port-au-Prince, Haiti.

After a long day of travel, WMI Director of International Programs, Pat Haughney, and volunteers John Eckley and Tommy Johnston arrived in the Dominican Republic late last night. With the help of ministry partners on the ground, they made their way across the border into Haiti this afternoon. Once they reached Port-au-Prince, they were able to connect with WMI’s Haitian staff already on the ground. Emergency relief plans are now steadily underway.

Yesterday, the first 10 water systems were deployed from WMI to Miami. The systems are scheduled to be loaded onto a cargo plane tomorrow morning and should arrive in Port-au-Prince tomorrow afternoon. Water systems installations will begin as soon as the equipment is unloaded.

Each WMI water system, called a Living Water™ Treatment System, can purify 10 gallons of water each minute. That’s enough to provide for the daily drinking needs of about 5,000 people in a disaster situation.

WMI staff and volunteers are working around the clock to assemble water systems that will be needed for Haiti. We plan to respond with safe water until the needs are met; however, we need your help!

Here's What You Can Do

Pray –

Please continue to pray for all those in Haiti who were affected by this horrific event. Pray that through this devastation, God’s light shines brightly.

Pray for WMI staff and volunteers on the ground in Port-au-Prince. Now, more than ever, they need strength, stamina and God’s protection.

Ask God to provide a clear and quick path for the water systems to arrive in Haiti.
