The first five water treatment systems arrived in Port-au-Prince, Haiti this afternoon, and one system is already providing safe drinking water for quake victims! “I’m so happy you are here,” said one woman collecting water with her three children at her side. “My children have nothing to drink. You have saved us. Now we have clean water. Thank you, thank you.”

Five more water treatment systems will leave Miami tomorrow and arrive in Port-au-Prince by early afternoon. WMI staff and volunteers will work quickly to install the systems and begin distributing safe water to people in the areas of greatest need.
Meanwhile, WMI staff and volunteers have worked through the weekend to assemble 10 more Living Water™ Treatment Systems destined for Haiti. Those systems are scheduled for deployment tomorrow.
The Situation
Five days after the 7.0 earthquake, Haiti is still very much in a state of distress. At this time, safe water is still the most urgent and vital need.
As diesel fuel is in short supply, WMI is outfitting each water system with solar energy capabilities. These solar-powered water systems are completely independent of fuel and electricity, which make them ideal for disaster situations such as this. Each water system can purify enough water to provide for the daily drinking needs of approximately 5000 disaster victims.
