It’s that time again! Gather your teammates, put on your walking shoes, grab a water pail and get ready for this year’s Water Missions International Walk for Water! WMI’s Walk for Water is a unique fundraising event that commemorates World Water Day, spreads awareness of the global water crisis and helps provide safe water to people in need.
The 3.5-mile Walk for Water is inspired by millions of women and children who are responsible for making the daily trek to collect water for their families. During the walk, each participant has the opportunity to carry an empty water pail, which can be filled with water at the halfway point along the route then carried to the finish. The Walk for Water is a fun, educational experience that anyone can enjoy! All funds raised support Water Missions International’s ongoing efforts to provide safe water, sanitation and God’s love to people around the world.
In 2010, Water Missions International is launching the Walk for Water as a national series. Walks are in the works for Charleston and Greenville, SC; Holland, MI; Augusta, GA; Chicago, IL; Santa Barbara, CA and more! The Charleston Walk for Water will take place on Saturday, March 21 at 10:00am. Dates and times for other cities will be available soon.
To get started, please visit the Walk for Water Web page. WMI’s online resources will help you recruit team members and create an online fundraising page. You can also view video tutorials and a list of frequently asked questions.
